About Mafia.Party
Mafia.Party is a free, browser-based way to play Mafia, the classic social deduction party game also known as Werewolf, with a group of friends in the same room. Phones are the secret role cards, a TV or laptop can be the shared city screen, and a narrator voice runs the night so that everyone gets to play.
Why it exists
Mafia has one famous flaw: somebody has to be the moderator. One player sits out every round, keeps the rules straight, does the “everyone close your eyes” voice, and tries not to accidentally give the game away. Mafia.Party was built to give that job to the website. The built-in narrator calls the night phases, wakes the right roles at the right time, and keeps secrets properly secret, so the whole group plays, including whoever would otherwise have been stuck hosting.
How it works
One person creates a Room and shares a 4-letter code; everyone else joins from the browser on their phone. No app to install, no account to create. If a TV or laptop is handy it can join as a shared display for the city, votes and announcements. Then the city sleeps, the Mafia wake up, and the arguments begin. Who's behind it
Mafia.Party is made by one independent developer who wanted a version of the game that a living room full of people could start in under a minute. It isn't a studio or a startup, just a long-running side project that friends kept asking to play again.
How it stays free
The game is free to play and has no accounts, sign-ups or paywalls. To cover its costs it may show ads on menu and information screens, never during live play, and never interrupting a game. You can read exactly how that works, and what little data the game touches, in the privacy policy.
